Magic and the Brain

Magic and the Brain

Description

Columbia-area people multitask every day or so they think. Doctors from the Barrow Neurological Institute have spent the past five years scrutinizing some of the world’s greatest magicians including Penn and Teller to better understand just how the brain works – their findings? Multitasking is a myth. Doctors Susana Martinez-Conde, PhD, and Stephen Macknik, PhD have coined the term “neuromagic” and discovered that the brain is not designed to multi-task, but instead can be trained to quickly shift the focus from one subject to another.
