Reason For Nomination: Emily is a great leader and classy individual. She is an easy choice for team captain of both the track and cross country teams. She is poised and mature. She takes care of her body and mind, recognizes that commitment to a running sport is a full time endeavor, and practices with the greatest degree of intensity. She gives us everything she has every single time she races. I have never coached a harder working kid in my 20 years as track and cross country coach. She is an absolute warrior on the track, but is respectful and sportsmanlike. She is a class act. Emily is everything we want in a Lady Jay track athlete. She's a great kid who will be successful in all her endeavors in life. Emily's best race is the 800m. Her primary race is the 4x800 meter relay. She talks about "Starting off the meet the right way..." referring to how the 4x800m is the first race of the day in track. She usually runs first leg, almost always getting the lead. Her PR in the 800 is a 2:22. She is quiet, leading by example.

Plans After High School: Go to the University of Missouri Columbia and major in Biology Community College

    • Emily is the definition of a supportive teammate. When I trained with Emily, I knew I would should bring my full effort and more every time I stepped on the track.
She always brings her best effort to everything she does and never failed to keep a level mind and determined attitude. If it weren't for Emily's sound mind and impeccable leadership skills, I don't think our relay teams would have performed as well as we did at several meets. Teams need leaders like Emily to succeed!
Vote for this girl; she deserves this honor!
